Amir Gat

Background

Born in Israel 1979. Married to Idit, and father of Ori, Tamar, Amit and Eilon. B.Sc. Technion, 2005 (summa  cum laude). From 2005 till 2010, special track PhD student under the supervision of dist.  Professor Daniel Weihs and  Professor Itzchak Frankel. From 2010 to 2012, postdoctoral researcher in the California Institute of Technology. Currently, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

Prof. Gat has authored over 50 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals. Professor Gat’s research focuses primarily on theoretical analysis, supplemented by small-scale experiments and numerical computations. The main subjects of Amir’s research are (I) Metamaterials and metafluids for energy harvesting, storage, and refrigeration, (II) Soft robotics for minimally invasive surgery and search and rescue applications, and (III) Mechanical neuromorphic computing.
